How do virtual services and programs work?
In the case of one-to-one coaching, you simply call 250-653-2085 for your coaching session. You also access your email for information relevant to the coaching work we are doing together.
For group coaching programs, teleseminars, and consulting services there is a combined use of a teleconference line - you are given a phone number to a bridge line and a pin number to access the conference call line and you are immediately connected to the call and email is used to send handouts, worksheets, workbooks - whatever support materials and resources are relevant to your particular program.

What is group coaching?
By definition, group coaching is the application of coaching principles to a small group for the purposes of personal and/or professional development, the achievement of goals and greater self-awareness.
Group coaching is grounded in an experiential approach, where participants are engaged and in control of their learning and agendas. Group coaching also means a participatory program - where participants are actively involved throughout - not just passive listeners on the call.
One of the best ways to support our own development and learning processes is to spend time with people going through and/or interested in similar things - in the case of Creative Wellness groups - participants are interested in all things healing, greater well-being, stress reduction and work-life balance. Linking people together to learn, discover and grow in a network of mutual support through the creation of coaching groups is a tried and true method for helping people define and achieve their goals.
Group Coaching is ideal for individuals, groups of people or groups within an organization or company who:
- are working on a specific issue eg: goal setting, stress management, work-life balance, peer support, leadership development
- prefer the energy and dynamic of a group setting
- are working on a common goal, outcome or project
- want a cost effective coaching experience
- don't feel comfortable working one-on-one with a coach
- prefer to support and be supported by others in working towards their goals
The benefits of group coaching include:
- greater levels of support and accountability
- feeling like a member of a team and that you are not on your own
- the opportunity to hear many perspectives
- the potential for exponential growth via the group's structure
- being able to contribute to other peoples' lives while achieving your own goals
- affordability

What is the average length of time in a coaching relationship?
The length of the coaching relationship varies depending on the type of coaching service or program you are participating in - for example, the average group coaching program lasts six weeks. One-to-one coaching lasts a minimum of three months (with an average of two coaching sessions per month) while some clients maintain a coaching relationship over extended periods of time as a part of their ongoing personal and professional development, including setting goals and achieving results in various areas of life and work. We work together to determine what is best in your unique circumstances.

How does coaching differ from therapy?
This question is common among clients and coaches alike. There are often discussions among professional coaches attempting to articulate the differences between these respective methods of helping and guiding others.
As both a coach and a registered social worker with years of offering counseling services to individuals, families and groups, my experience of this question always leads me to the same place - the reality is there are differences and there are similarities.
The International Coaches Federation offers the following distinction...
Coaching can be distinguished from therapy in a number of ways. First, coaching is a profession that supports personal and professional growth and development based on individual-initiated change in pursuit of specific actionable outcomes. These outcomes are linked to personal or professional success. Coaching is forward moving and future focused.
Therapy, on the other hand, deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or a relationship between two or more individuals. The focus is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past which hamper an individual's emotional functioning in the present, improving overall psychological functioning, and dealing with present life and work circumstances in more emotionally healthy ways. Therapy outcomes often include improved emotional/feeling states.
While positive feelings/emotions may be a natural outcome of coaching, the primary focus is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in one's work or personal life. The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow-through.
